Scientists and engineers around the world are learning from our animal co-inhabitants and from bacteria about their skill in movement and are mimicking them to develop robots that can have a positive impact on the fields of humanitarian and medical aid. Today we’ll examine how these devices can help humans and animals in times of need or emergency. MIT’s Cheetah project was initiated to create a robot that is flexible, and capable of running, jumping, and landing safely like a cheetah. Besides nanorobots capable of swimming inside our bodies, tiny robots capable of crawling are also being studied by medical engineers and researchers.
