For ages, we turkey-people have been associated with Thanksgiving, a holiday that celebrates good harvests, blessings, gratitude, and the bounty of the year. However, we seek to change the narrative of being seen as the main dish on the table, especially for my cousins the wild turkey-folks. “Hi William. Are you stressed, because I was inside? Yes, you were. Come here. You’re a good boy! You can see his head starting to flush back to red color, especially in the cornicles, which are the little lumpy things at the bottom. And pretty soon the top of his head is going to begin changing to red. And he is much more settled now that I’m out here with him. He gets very worried when he cannot find me.” “Number two: Turkeys can see three times better than humans. 360-degree vision better than 20 over six vision, that’s unbelievable and that’s number two.” Our memory is impressive; we can recognize our human and animal friends even after months apart, and we are deeply loyal to our favorite people.

“I thought I would adopt a dog and today I have a turkey. He just has a number of quirks, like he’s obsessed with trying to wear my shoes, and trying to walk in them. He would get up on the trampoline and want to bounce with me.” “He was found as a little baby turkey chick in the middle of a highway. So, turkeys can be really friendly and personable, they make actually really good companion animals. And we have a special celebration for them here to celebrate Thanksgiving. Most of the Thanksgiving meal is the side dishes anyway, and so many of them can be made vegan. It’s so much better than eating an animal. We don’t have to kill anybody to do it.”
