In today’s news, Lebanon receives assistance in rebuilding Beirut schools and education centers, United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) starts assembling rocket for manned-moon mission, study shows regenerated forests have reduced rainforest clearing-related carbon emissions in Brazil, Finnish university researchers use bacteria to build tiny structures, caring Aulacese (Vietnamese) woman makes wheelchairs for abandoned animals, Oxford University students choose to prohibit serving of red meat, and United States nonprofit expands aid to elderly with animal companions amidst pandemic.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Education Above All (EAA) to rebuild Beirut, Lebanon schools.

Approximately 85,000 Lebanese and non-Lebanese students lost access to education due to the Beirut explosion that occurred on August 4, 2020. In response to the disaster which damaged many educational facilities, UNESCO and EAA have announced a joint initiative to develop quality education in the country. With US$10 million in support from the Qatar Fund for Development, UNESCO and EAA are working to rebuild 55 schools, 20 technical and vocational education and training centers, and three universities in Beirut. Currently, 20% of the affected schools are under reconstruction and will open by February 2021 or earlier. Our sincere appreciation, Qatar Fund for Development, UNESCO and Education Above All. May education and all other affected spheres in Lebanon soon return to stability and flourish in Allah’s comforting care.

NASA starts constructing rocket for Moon mission.

The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is assembling a giant rocket called the Space Launch System (SLS) that will help send astronauts, including the first woman, to the Moon in 2024. The project engineers in Florida, United States, have now stacked the 10 segments of the SLS’s two booster rockets into place on the mobile launcher. The astronaut vehicle sitting atop the rocket is called Orion and will have its first launch in November 2021, when it will travel around the Moon without anyone aboard. In 2023, the spacecraft will orbit the Moon with humans inside, and then in 2024, astronauts will land on the Moon. Such exciting news, NASA, on your program to return to the Moon. May your three missions go as planned as the United States’ brave astronauts visit our celestial neighbor once again, in Heaven’s protection.

Up next, study shows regenerated forests have reduced rainforest clearing-related carbon emissions in Brazil. We thank the animal defense attorneys that represent animals in legal matters regarding their welfare and protection. We’ll be right back with more motivating news on Supreme Master Television.

Hi there, I’m Remy the vegan Southern Rockhopper Penguin! Heaven on Earth is as close as your next vegan meal, because no animals will suffer and you will be blessed from above for your peaceful love!! Be vegan, like me. Here is a safety tip for you! Avoid falls when the ground is icy by changing the way you walk. Try keeping your center of gravity directly over your front leg, similar to how penguins walk. When we walk normally, the ability of our legs to support our body’s weight is divided during mid-stride. This makes each leg support our weight at an angle that is not perpendicular to the ground, which could lead to a bad fall. Keep safe and tread carefully! Lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet. For all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. And thank you for watching. Now, the weather around the world.

Study finds regenerated forests partially offset deforestation-related carbon releases in Brazil.

Brazil’s restored (or secondary) forests play a significant role in carbon capture; however, the average age and size of these areas were unknown until recently. An investigation led by two researchers at Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research quantified the carbon uptake of these forests and found there was an estimated 12% offset of the carbon emissions caused by the clearing of the Brazilian Amazon alone in a 33-year period. The information, published in the peer-reviewed journal Scientific Data, will be fundamental in enabling Brazilian policymakers to create ways to safeguard biodiversity and the precious trees in the future. Thank you, National Institute for Space Research scientists, for the useful findings. In the goodwill of the Providence, may we urgently act to conserve the lungs of our earth – the magnificent forests.

Researchers build microscopic structures using bacteria as tiny 3D printers.

Scientists from Aalto University in Finland place nano-cellulose producing bacteria inside water repellent molds, along with the required nutrients for the bacteria to live on. The bacteria then line the molds with tiny filaments of cellulose, creating whatever shape they were placed in. The researchers can make objects ranging in size from one-tenth the diameter of a human hair up to 20 centimeters. It is envisioned that soon this kind of microscopic 3D printing could be used to repair or reconstruct tissues or organs within the human body, including the brain. Such a fascinating advancement, Aalto University researchers, to utilize bacteria to construct superfine structures. May your studies lead to new life-saving technologies as we work towards protecting and healing all, in Divine mercy.

Benevolent woman makes wheelchairs for disabled animals in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam.

Stemming from her love for abandoned dogs and cats with disabilities, during the last 6 years, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc, of Bình Chánh, Âu Lạc (Vietnam) has adopted and taken care of tens of dozens of homeless canines and felines. Also, kind Ms. Ngọc has created wheelchairs to help these special cats and dogs. She uses water pipes to make the chair frames, belts to steady the body, and four wheels for mobility. The aids are quite light and facilitate the animal friends’ movements. Ms. Ngọc said: “When I see them being able to move, not lying down in an unhappy mood because they can’t move, then my heart is full of joy. For me, that is happiness.” We thank your compassionate heart, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc. May all animals have blissful lives, in the boundless grace of God.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc, and a grateful small gift of US$10,000 to further her noble work. May the Buddha’s Love fill your good heart and bless you and those you care for.”

Coming up, Oxford University students choose to prohibit serving of red meat. We’ll take a moment to thank the satellite operations engineers who help launch satellites, ensure they are in the right position in space, and monitor their performance. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more foresighted news. Welcome back to Noteworthy News - Generous News for a Magnanimous World.

Oxford University students say no to red meat.

As part of the British university’s sustainability drive, Oxford students have voted to prohibit red meat from university catered events and outlets. The institution seeks to lessen its overall carbon emissions by 50% before 2030. In 2019, another leading UK university, Cambridge, reported it had reduced its carbon output by 33% per kilogram of food and decreased land use by 28% by replacing red meat with plant-based alternatives. Other steps by Cambridge included expanding the vegan options for diners and stopping the sale of single-use plastic bottles. Way to go, Oxford and Cambridge universities, on implementing these thoughtful eco-measures. May these moves be the spark to soon make your campuses fully vegan, in the loving guidance of the Providence.

United States charity provides support to elderly with animal companions.

Since 1992, Pets for the Elderly has helped nearly 100,000 US seniors with animal companion adoption fees. Now, to assist those aged 60 and above to keep their feline and canine companions amid COVID-19 challenges, the nonprofit has expanded its grant program to cover expenses such as food, veterinary appointments, and grooming. The charity’s Executive Director Susan Kurowski explained, “Older people take better care of themselves when they know someone is relying on them… and most of all, have someone that they can talk to, laugh and play with.” The American Psychological Association says animal companions can provide emotional and social support while the American Heart Association has linked having an animal friend with a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease. Our heartfelt gratefulness, Pets for the Elderly, for this wonderful service. In God’s beneficence, may we help one another to thrive in supportive communities.

We laughed a lot with this joke, hope you will too. It’s entitled “A Tidy House.”

While visiting her daughter-in-law Tina, Monica noticed how messy Tina and Joe’s house was.

“Your house is so disorganized... Why don’t you tidy it up a little?”

“Well, I don’t put things away because... Joe would never be able to find them again.”

?!
