In today’s news, Australia supports demining efforts in Sri Lanka, Togo overcomes sleeping sickness, vehicle routing technology from United Kingdom to decrease carbon emissions, Korean research finds adverse health effects from consuming small amounts of alcohol, esteemed Hungarian doctor receives recognition for remarkable work on sight restoration, United States study confirms plant-based diet reduces ecological footprint, and Netherlands accelerates closure of mink farms.

Australia, a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion recipient and a Shining World Leadership Awards for High Moral Value and Health Guardian laureate, assists Sri Lanka in becoming landmine-free.

The government of Australia contributed £440,000 in support of the United Kingdom-headquartered Mines Advisory Group (MAG)’s work to free Sri Lanka from the legacy of landmines by 2025. MAG, in collaboration with Sri Lankan demining organisation Delvon Assistance for Social Harmony (DASH), will use the funding to remove landmines from 190,000 square meters of land, returning the rehabilitated area to communities for productive use for approximately 7,750 people. In the last two years alone, the joint endeavors of MAG Sri Lanka, DASH and Australia have removed over 2,200 explosive devices and helped people to rebuild lives in the Mannar, Vavuniya and Kilinochchi districts in Sri Lanka. Australia has supported demining in Sri Lanka since 2009. Our sincere gratefulness, Australia, Mines Advisory Group and Delvon Assistance for Social Harmony. In Heaven’s upliftment, we pray that world peace descends on Earth through our collective efforts in adopting a lifestyle of kindness!

Togo becomes the first African nation to eradicate sleeping sickness.

The World Health Organization (WHO) validated that Togo has eliminated human African trypanosomiasis or “sleeping sickness” as a public health issue. Sleeping sickness, which is found in 36 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, is caused by parasites transmitted through the bites of infected tsetse flies. Without treatment, the disease is usually fatal. In 1995, 60 million people were estimated to be at risk of infection; however, last year, less than 1,000 cases were found. Togo has not reported any cases in the past 10 years. Togo’s achievement is the result of more than two decades of ongoing political commitment, as well as screening and tracking of cases. Congratulations, the government and people of Togo, and our respect for your dedicated and caring efforts to protect precious life. In God’s grace, may all nations be inspired to move towards a vegan era of health and well-being for all treasured citizens.

Up next, vehicle routing technology from United Kingdom to decrease carbon emissions. We’ll take a moment to thank hospital administrators, who oversee their facilities’ daily operations to provide the best medical service possible to patients. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more admirable news.

Good day, gentle viewers, I’m Jersey the vegan Bull. You can be the change you are waiting to see. Just go vegan – for yourself, the animals and the planet! Here is a little cooking tip for you. Do you want to learn how you can maintain the green in your green beans while you cook them? All you have to do is give them an ice bath! Begin by blanching the beans for about two minutes in boiling, salty water. Next, take the beans out of the hot water and put them directly into a bowl of ice and water. The cold water will stop the cooking process and keep your beans from losing color. You can then refrigerate or freeze the beans for when you need them, or reheat them right away and add your favorite seasonings. Enjoy! Thank you for tuning in, and lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants. Now, the worldwide weather.

Scientists develop technology based on ant behavior to reduce vehicle fleet emissions. Computer scientists from Aston University in Birmingham, United Kingdom, have created a new intelligent vehicle routing technology that can reduce vehicle fleet emissions by 50%. The software uses route optimization based on ant foraging behavior. It interacts with a company’s vehicle fleet to direct them around a city or town in an efficient manner. Over a six-week test period, results demonstrated that time spent on the road could be decreased by more than 50%, reducing fuel costs, increasing profit margins, easing traffic congestion, and halving vehicle emissions. The researchers now plan to test their software with a range of different vehicle fleet types. A big thumbs up, Aston University research team, for this remarkable advancement. May we continue to be guided in Divine wisdom by our ingenious co-inhabitants.

Korean study reveals dangers of consuming even small amounts of alcohol.

In a recent study of almost 27 million adults from Korea, Dr. Hye-Jung Shin and colleagues from the National Medical Center in Seoul, Korea, examined the effects of alcohol consumption and determined that even “light” drinking is harmful to one’s health. Compared to Koreans who do not consume alcohol, men who drank half to one standard drink per day were 10% more likely to be obese and have metabolic syndrome, which is a combination of diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. Two drinks increased the chance up to 25%, and three drinks brought the probability up to 34% for obesity and 42% for metabolic syndrome. Women also experienced similar percentages, although slightly lower. Thank you, Dr. Hye-Jung Shin and co-researchers, for this important information. May all people understand the negative impacts of alcohol and choose the way of peaceful living in good health and Heaven’s love.

Hungarian neurobiologist wins prestigious award for his research on restoring sight to the blind.

Esteemed physician and neurobiologist Dr. Botond Roska, recently won the Körber European Science Prize 2020 along with €1 million for his pioneering work in ophthalmology. His research focuses on the restoration of sight through gene-based therapy by reprogramming cells in the retina to become light sensitive. Preliminary results indicated the restored sight would allow vision similar to watching black and white television. His method is currently undergoing clinical trials. Dr. Roska is co-director of the Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel in Switzerland. Congratulations and God bless you, Dr. Botond Roska, for your brilliant efforts. In Divine benevolence, may your clinical trials be successful in bringing the gift of sight back to many.

Coming up, United States research confirms plant-based diet reduces ecological footprint. We’ll pause now to appreciate the Art of the Meddah, a traditional Turkish storytelling recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. More thoughtful news coming up on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Uplifting News for a Harmonious World.

Study finds plant-based diet can sequestrate years of carbon emissions.

In a new study, United States scientists examined regions where animal meat is produced, and found food sourced from animals require about 83% of the world’s agricultural land, and prevents native flora, such as forests, to grow. The researchers emphasized that by shifting to plant-based food production and correspondingly consuming plant-based diets, we could create space for ecosystem regrowth, which will neutralize carbon emissions. Published in the Nature Sustainability journal, the study concluded that if these changes are implemented by 2050, 332 to 547 metric gigatons of carbon dioxide can be sequestered, which is as much as 16 years of fossil fuel emissions. The study’s co-author, Dr. Helen Harwatt of Harvard University, explained that this method of regrowing native vegetation is “our safest option for removing CO2,” rather than relying on still unproven technologies. Our earnest appreciation, all scientists delivering this crucial information. In the radiant intelligence of the Providence, we pray that all beings take immediate action in adopting a compassionate diet to revitalize our environment and save the world.

The Netherlands accelerates closure of mink farms.

To safeguard public health following the outbreak of COVID-19 in 41 mink farms, the Dutch government has ordered an early shut down of the entire abysmal industry. The original deadline of January 2024 was moved to March 2021. From November 2020, mink breeding for fur will no longer be allowed. Animal welfare group Humane Society International, a Shining World Compassion Award recipient, estimated that the early closure will save 13.5 million minks, and commended the Dutch government for ending this cruel business. The Netherlands is a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion and Humanitarianism recipient, and a Shining World Leadership Awards for Earth Guardian and Animal Protection laureate. Our gratitude, the Netherlands, for your decision to stop the brutal mink industry. Many thanks, Humane Society International, for your ongoing animal protection efforts. For the safety of every being on the planet, may countries around the globe ban all mistreatment of animals and implement vegan laws, in God’s mercy.

Let's brighten up with a smile and the joke of the day called “Starry Teeth.”

“Do you know how stars are like false teeth?”

“They both come out at night.”

And now we have a heartline from Trịnh Thị Thu in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam:

In 2006, I followed Master, and since then, I became vegan and practiced the Quan Yin Method of meditation. All this time, Master has blessed me a lot, and I always had good experiences in my daily life. My life has completely changed after following You. Everything is good since I have practiced this Quan Yin Method. I am a junior high school teacher. Being a spiritual practitioner and a vegan, I have another side job as a professional baker. I bake vegan sponge cakes and vegan cream frosting cakes. The most popular vegan sponge cakes that I bake are banana, chocolate and orange flavor. Every time I baked a cake for delivery, I remembered my record was 200 or more of the small vegan cakes. These cakes were ordered by initiates who live far away and by students for their school lunch. I’d baked vegan cream frosting cakes for everyone on special occasions, such as an initiation day anniversary or a student’s birthday. When people ate my vegan cake, they all said that my cakes were so tasty, that even without eggs or dairy, the cake is still so spongy, smooth, soft, with the natural scents of banana, chocolate, and orange, together with coconut milk and soybean milk. I’m very happy because I researched the recipes myself, and then through other initiates’ sincere suggestions, I finally developed many recipes for different vegan sponge cakes and cream frosting cakes. Thanks to diligent meditation and Master’s blessings that I was very successful.  I think it’s time that we promote and spread far and wide the pure and natural vegan products for the sake of human health, the environment and the animals, and call on people to switch to the vegan diet. The COVID-19 pandemic should serve as the wakeup call for everyone in the world. The vegan diet will help prevent a pandemic or any disease that originates from animals. In my humble effort, I pray for World Vegan and everyone to stop killing animals, stop eating meat and switch to a compassionate, safe and peaceful vegan diet. In the end, I wish Master to be always healthy, beautiful, and that Your mission of delivering humans on Earth will be favorable and successful. May Heavens protect Master. Trịnh Thị Thu from Âu Lạc (Vietnam)

Creative Trịnh Thị Thu, Thank you so much for your loving wishes for Supreme Master Ching Hai and expressing your vision, which we all share, for a vegan world that would be a safe place for all of Earth’s inhabitants. Your cakes sound so yummy, and we appreciate the part you are playing in making sure that vegan options in your community include such delectable treats. We hope you continue creating delicious foods that celebrate life. May God bless you and the sweet Aulacese (Vietnamese) people. In Celestial love and light, Supreme Master TV team

P.S. Master also said: “Talented Trịnh Thị Thu, you are absolutely right that the vegan diet is how to end COVID-19 and prevent other zoonotic pandemics from occurring. My thanks for baking plant-based goodies and demonstrating to the public in a tasty way that no one needs to use animal products ever. Buddha’s infinite blessings to you and gifted Âu Lạc (Vietnam).”
